Prepare to eat more chicken, Chick-fil-A considers Dartmouth

Mar 29, 2024

Fans of the beloved fried chicken restaurant Chick-fil-A may be thrilled to know that the fast food chain is considering a new location near the Dartmouth Mall.

The location for the proposed location is near the former Sears Auto Center located at the intersection of State Road and Faunce Corner Mall Road.

The Planning Board is still reviewing the site plans, but current designs include a three-laned drive thru with canopies over ordering and food delivery areas, indoor and outdoor patio seating, bike racks, crosswalks, and landscaping that would include the addition of several trees.

Board members Margaret Sweet and Nicholas Psichopaidas recommended that parking spaces should be added for visiting buses to accommodate seniors and school athletics.

Board member Kevin Melo said that given its prominent location, the proposed Chick-fil-A should fit Dartmouth’s architectural aesthetics instead of defaulting to the standard corporate designs.

He said that the current building looks too boxy, and he would like the finished building to reflect Cape Cod and New England architecture.

The Planning Board viewed the site plan for the first time on Monday, March 25. The proposed Chick-Fil-A is in its preliminary stages and has not yet been approved for building.
