Alcina “Tina” (Mendonca) Spindola, 92, of Dartmouth, died on September 1, 2017 at home surrounded by her loving family following a period of declining health. She was the widow of Leonard Spindola and daughter of the late Luiz G. and Maria R. (Almeida) Mendonca.

Born in New Bedford, she attended Holy Family High School and received her hairdresser's license form New Bedford Beauty School. Spindola owned and operated The Magic Mirror Beauty Salon in New Bedford for 17 years and then did hairdressing from her residence in Dartmouth for 30 years.

She attended art classes taught by the late well known artist Louis Sylvia. She enjoyed painting and was always involved in some craft, sharing her talents with friends by conducting workshops. Spindola was a parishioner of St. Mary Church in South Dartmouth where she was active in fundraisers and was a member and past president of the St. Mary's Guild. She was also a member of the New Bedford Garden Club.

Survivors include her two sons, Kenneth J. Spindola and his wife Elizabeth of Hopedale, MA, and Phillip L. Spindola of Plymouth, MA; two grandchildren, Leigh A. Lalime and her husband Michael, and Michael L. Spindola and his wife Amanda; two great-grandchildren, Elise Marie and Charlotte Anne; a dear, longtime friend of the family, Douglas Medeiros of New Bedford, and several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Mary R. Mendonca, Monsignor Luiz G. Mendonca, James Mendonca, Edward Mendonca and former Massachusetts State Senator George Mendonca.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Social Concerns Ministry or Msgr. Arthur G. Considine Scholarship Fund, 783 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth, MA 02748.
