BOURNE – The Wareham Gatemen (13-8) return to action today as they take on the Bourne Braves (10-9-1) at 6:00 p.m. at Doran Park.

Last time out, the Gatemen defeated the Cotuit Kettleers 8-1 on Tuesday night. Wareham pounded out 15 hits and six different Gatemen had multi-hit games. Catcher Gian Martellini had a breakout game going 2-5 with a homer and three RBI. Starter Joey Matulovich picked up his second win in a row going six scoreless innings, lowering his ERA to 0.38. The Braves had the day off yesterday as well. In their previous game, Bourne lost against Hyannis on Tuesday. Up 4-0 in the bottom of the sixth, the Braves gave up four runs and the game was tied 4-4. Braves starter Trey Van Der Weide and had gone five scoreless, but then he started the sixth and surrendered two of those four runs to score in the inning.

In the eighth, Seth Gray drove in two runs with a double to give the Harbor Hawks a 6-4 lead and that’s where the final score would hold.

Today’s meeting will be the third of six between the Braves and Gatemen this season. The last game between these two teams was earlier this week on Monday night when the Braves defeated the Gatemen 5-3. Connor Lunn was the hard luck loser allowing one run over four innings. Ken Waldichuk relieved Lunn and allowed four runs (two earned) over three innings.

RHP Ryan Garcia (0-0, 2.57 ERA) gets the start today for Wareham. In his last outing, Garcia allowed one run over three innings in a 4-3 win over Hyannis on June 29. This will be Garcia’s first outing against the Braves today.

RHP Bryan Hoeing (2-0, 2.76 ERA) gets the start today for Bourne. Hoeing recorded a no decision last time out after picking up wins in each of his first two starts. Last time out, Hoeing went four innings allowing three runs versus Cotuit.
