The Dartmouth boys ice hockey team lost against Hopkinton in the Div. 3 South quarter finals on March 5 at John Gallo Arena.

In the first period, the second-seeded Hillers were able to get the first goal within the first minute of game time. The unassisted goal was scored by Sean Walsh.

Keeping with its momentum, Hopkinton player Owen Delaney with an assist from Tommy Hamblet scooted one past Dartmouth goalie John Gamache, making the game 2-0.

The first answer from the No. 10 seeded Indians didn’t come until 6:57 when Bryce Souza was able to get one through the pole with help from Angelo Nicolosi.

The second period began much like the first with the Hillers scoring within the first minute of game play. The goal was credited to Tommy Hamblet with the assist from Connor Delaney.

It was the only goal scored by the Hillers in the second period. The Indians tried to build up their energy with a goal by Mike Cassara with an assist from Will Cote. However, it was the Indians final goal of the night.

Even with two power plays, the Indians didn’t score anything in the third period, while the Hillers scored four goals, leading to the 7-2 loss.

Despite the loss, Head Coach Mike Cappello said the players have nothing to be disappointed about.

“I’m extremely proud of this team. I thought we had a great season, especially toward the end, the last couple weeks of the season we really came on strong," Cappello said. "Today we just ran into a really good team."

With only two seniors leaving this year, Cappello said this will be a learning experience for the rest of players.

The Indians finish the season with a 12-8-3 record. The team had previously defeated Holliston 4-2 in the first round of the playoffs to advance to the quarter finals.
