As the Dartmouth High volleyball team closed the regular season with a win on October 30, the focus is now shifting to the looming state tournament.

The Indians bested opponent Sandwich in all three sets, taking in a shutout 3-0 win at home, which also coincided with the team's senior night. The win brings the Indians’ record up to 13-7-0, more than enough to qualify for postseason action.

“They came out with some spark today; sometimes we come out with spark and we lose it, but tonight we didn’t lose it,” said Head Coach Rachel Lassey.

The October 30 win doubled as a senior night celebrating the team’s four seniors, Sophie Crane, Sophie Lombard, Megan Belmonte, and Megan Crisostomo, and the work they’ve put into what has been a season dominated by big games.

“We had some tough competitors this year,” said Head Coach Rachel Lassey of the season. “We faced New Bedford twice, Barnstable twice, Case twice, [New Bedford] Voc twice, and those are all really tough teams.”

With the focus now on the postseason, Lassey isn’t quite sure what to expect as brackets are not in yet. She predicts a seed that will secure a home playoff game, and hopes to keep up the strong work her team has put on throughout the regular season.

“We challenged ourselves throughout the season, so it’s going to allow us to be a little more confident and comfortable with tournament play – it can get nerve wracking,” Lassey said.

For potential competition, she said a potential match-up against New Bedford or Barnstable could be challenging, depending on how the brackets look. Within the division, there is worry about teams she is not too familiar with, like Hingham and Walpole.

Brackets were released on October 31. The team secured a first round bye, and will face Hingham in an away game on November 6 at 5 p.m.
