Mar 15, 2024

Christopher Hemingway died peacefully on March 13, surrounded by family and friends after a decade-long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Cheryle; children Hannah and Noah; siblings Thomas, Barbara, Elizabeth, Maureen, and Peter; stepmother Paula; and his many nieces and nephews who brought him so much joy. He is also survived by his beloved Seefest crew with whom he sailed for many years. He is preceded in death by mother, Elizabeth; father, Vincent; brother, Vincent; nephews, Thomas, Timothy, and Nicholas.

Chris graduated from Nasson College, was an avid sailor, co-owner of CV Variety, and lifelong resident of Dartmouth and New Bedford. Fiercely committed to his family and community, Chris beat the odds time and time again since given just two years to live. Despite his personal battle, Chris was the person you could always count on when a need arose. After a long and valiant journey, Chris and his family navigated his final chapter with courage, grace, and humor.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kim and the team at the Southcoast Center for Cancer Care for a decade of love and support, as well as the Southcoast Hospice team and friends and family who supported them.

A service is scheduled for 9:00 am on Friday, March 22 at the Kilburn Mill in New Bedford 3rd floor (elevator available), with coffee and light refreshments to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Chris’ life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Community Boating Center at 1641 Padanaram Avenue, New Bedford, MA 02740.
